JOIN THE SPR BAND: COME PLAY WITH THE BAND AT THE 2026 ANNUAL MEETING
After 25 years, some of our longstanding SPR Blues Band members have passed the torch. Who will catch it? We are looking for you to join the SPR Band.
| Please help us to have a wonderful Saturday Night Social with you in the SPR Band. If you think SPR is your home, you love to play in bands, and are planning to attend SPR this year and in years to come, come join us. If you’ve seen the SPR Band at the Saturday Night Social each year, you can appreciate this great tradition and how it helps SPR members enjoy the closing evening of the conference. What you may not realize is that the SPR band members rehearse separately before coming to each SPR meeting, working to devise possible setlists for the evening show. Then on Saturday, following the business meeting and up until the start of the Saturday Night Social, the band members practice together, and we determine which songs are sufficiently tight to put on the evening’s setlist. But this means that for each song, we practice just a couple of run-throughs to get it right. So, we are looking for musicians with the kind of experience and talent that would allow them to do well with this limited practice arrangement. (In other words, if your only experience is singing in the shower or while stuck in commuter traffic, this might be a tough upgrade…) If you sing (lead or back) or play one or more of the following instruments, consider joining us: guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, horns, or others! Musicians rotate in and out of different songs, so no one plays every song at the Saturday Night Social. We know there is ample talent within SPR, and we hope some of you will join us.
