Thursday, October 24, 2024 – 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm
Ticketed Event (Registration in advance is required)
Fee: $10 USD per person + 21% VAT
Coordinators: SPR WISE Committee
The SPR WISE Committee invites members to learn about and discuss the benefits of international mentoring and how to navigate some of the challenges that come with it. This panel discussion will provide perspectives from mentees and mentors from varying career levels. Attendees will leave with practical advice on how to approach becoming a mentee in a different country and/or taking on a mentorship role for a mentee from another country. International scholarship is vital to the growth and success of psychophysiology, so learning best practices in navigating these relationships, both personally and logistically, is key.

New Luncheon Event!
Ticketed Event (Registration in advance is required)
Fee: $10 USD per person + 21% VAT

Description: Wearables are rapidly evolving due to contributions from engineering, human-computer interaction, and computer science. This luncheon fosters discussion about: 1) core psychophysiology principles relevant to device development (what we want engineers to know); 2) desired advances in hardware and software (what we wish engineers would design); 3) topics for learning where other disciplines excel (why we need to stop oversimplifying signal analyses to better understand the complexity of continuous biosignal data); and 4) strategies for next steps to promote knowledge mobilization and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Fee: $10 USD per person + 21% VAT
Coordinators: SPR Committee to Promote Student Interests
Description: Join us for a luncheon roundtable hosted by the Committee to Promote Student Interests (CPSI) focused on providing trainee members (e.g., undergraduates, post-bac and graduate students, interns, postdocs) with insight into the academic systems of the world; members at other career stages are also welcome. The roundtable format will facilitate close interaction with SPR members, who will share their insights into the nuances of working and progressing through their respective academic system and provide advice for trainees interested in advancing within that system.
