Victoria University of Wellington, Dr. Hedwig Eisenbarth
Our Affective and Criminal Neuroscience lab (afcrin lab) investigates physiological and behavioral correlates of emotional reactions – especially in the context of human social interactions. Our current projects include physiological reactivity and synchrony in dyadic interactions, the interplay of neurophysiological and peripheral physiological reactions to emotional videos and physiological reactions during sexual arousal, as well as neurophysiological correlates of emotional distraction and psychopathic personality traits. You can find out more about our research on the lab webpage.
We use EEG, measures of autonomic activity (heart rate, skin conductance, respiration, pupil dilation), alongside behavioral measures such as reaction times, body motion and eye gaze. In our lab you can learn how to measure and analyze brain activity with EEG, how to measure and analyze HR, EDA and eye tracking data as well as motion capture data.
The minimum for a research visit is 4 weeks, depending on the goals of the visit also more weeks or months. There are no requirements of prior knowledge, except curiosity and eagerness to learn.
Interested students are expected to bring their own funding to cover expenses.
